Doroshin Bay Cabin on Skilak Lake, September 20, 2006.

The photo of Doroshin Bay Cabin seen below was taken around 7 PM on the evening of September 20, 2006. You could not ask for a nicer fall day on any lake in the Kenai Moose Range then this turned out to be.

Note: This is Doroshin Bay cabin operated be the Kenai national wildlife refuge. The cabin lists a maximum capacity of four and rents for a measly 35.00 per night. These cabins are among the best deals in Alaska but to get here you will need a boat or your could hire a floatplane.

Inside the cabin you find a barrel stove waiting to warm you on a cool Alaska evening, there is a newer picnic table and a set of bunks but you will need your own linen.

Looking down from the porch of the cabin at the boat tieup. Use causion as it's a shallow tieup and a prop repair shop is hard to fine in the wilds. For safety sake, carry a spare prop at all times while boating in Alaska.

From a nice level vantage point above the waters edge, we look out over the bay and the fall foliage that blankets the shoreline of Skilak Lake. You find yourself in awe over the beauty and the peacefulness of the area.
